Pilates & GYROTONIC®
Body-N-Balance was the first facility in Georgia to utilize Pilates and GYROTONIC® equipment for rehabilitation. Pilates and GYROTONIC® exercise systems provide a safe, stable environment with less weight bearing and stress through injured joints. Unlike standard gym equipment that is limited to performing one exercise in a single plane, Pilates and GYROTONIC® equipment is highly adaptable and can be modified to each patient’s needs. This allows us to focus on total body integration, increasing range of motion, coordination, flexibility, and strengthening the body as it works in real life.
Manual therapy techniques are hands-on techniques used to assess and treat movement dysfunction and myofascial pain/restrictions. Manual techniques include joint mobilizations & manipulations, strain counterstrain, muscle energy techniques, myofascial trigger point release. In addition to manual myofascial release, PTs at Body-N-Balance utilize Gua Sha and Cupping to treat fascial restrictions and improve muscle function.
Redcord, also known as the Neurac method, is a suspension system that originated in Norway. The system uses slings and bungees to suspend the patient and facilitate progressive body-weight bearing exercise. Redcord is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain to help individuals regain normal, pain-free function by off-loading painful body regions and introducing high levels of neuromuscular stimulation. In addition to pain-free exercise, Redcord’s suspension system allows therapists to perform manual therapy techniques that complement the strengthening progression selected.
Dry needling is an invasive procedure used by Physical Therapists to treat myofascial pain syndrome. During the treatment, the PT will insert a solid filament needle into the skin and directly into a myofascial trigger point. Overtime, the release of the myofascial trigger point, will allow the patient to recruit the muscle more efficiently and without pain.
Wellness & Prevention: Sport Specific Training/Exercise Prescription
In addition to rehab for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, we also offer preventative services and maintenance programs. Physical therapists at Body-N-Balance specialize in sport specific rehab and training for a variety of sports, including, but not limited to: golf, tennis, running, performance arts (dance/gymnastics/singing), and baseball. In addition to sport specific conditioning, or retraining, we also offer wellness and prevention programs for the casual athlete or for the individual who would like to return to pain-free exercise. As movement specialists, we take pride in helping individuals of all skill levels remain active throughout the lifespan.
Electrotherapeutic Modalities: Laser Therapy, Ultrasound and Electrical Stimulation
Based on the clinical presentation, the use of modalities such as Laser therapy, ultrasound or electrical stimulation may be used. Electrotherapeutic modalities are beneficial for pain management, decreasing muscle guarding and promoting the body’s natural healing response to tissue damage.
The physical therapists at Body-N-Balance are trained in a variety of taping techniques. Tape may be used in maintenance/wellness populations or for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Some techniques may offer support to a body joint, while others may help facilitate or inhibit specific muscles, or muscle groups.
