Karen Dempers
Karen started teaching group exercise classes while attending the University of Georgia, and health and fitness has remained her passion. She has been at the forefront of the industry, working to launch Richard Simmons highly popular Anatomy Asylum in 1985. Karen is certified in a wide range of fitness disciplines, her favorite of which is Pilates. She was first certified in teaching Pilates fifteen years ago while living in South Africa, and has continued to add further Pilates certifications to her resume over the years, including the completion of her comprehensive Pilates certification through PhysicalMind Institute. In addition to Pilates, Karen is certified in numerous group exercise programs. She is also certified in pre and postpartum exercise programs and has applied those principles to Pilates for expectant and new mothers.
Karen’s love of health and fitness translates into hours of research and studying new techniques and evaluating their potential role in any of the classes she teaches. Her approach to health and fitness is holistic. She believes that regular exercise combined with a healthy, organic, balanced diet is the way to maintain one’s health. She is an avid runner, and truly believes in the benefits of practicing Pilates on a regular basis to strengthen the body.
