Michelza Mitchell, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Michelza is a former competitive dancer with training in ballet, tap, jazz, African, contemporary, and modern dance. After experiencing multiple dance-related injuries, she realized how difficult it could be to find physical therapists who understood the terminology, physical demands, and artistry of dance. This inspired her to become the kind of physical therapist she wished she’d had throughout her own training. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Mercer University with the goal of bridging that gap in care. Michelza is passionate about advocating for dancers and serving as a resource for dance instructors and studio owners, helping dancers build strength, prevent injuries, and reach their highest levels of artistry.
Beyond working with dancers and performers, Michelza enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic conditions and helping individuals return to the activities they love. She also enjoys helping older adults maintain their activity levels and independence. She takes a whole-body approach to patient care, recognizing that the body functions as an interconnected system rather than a collection of isolated parts.
Michelza incorporates a variety of treatment techniques, along with principles of Pilates, the GYROTONIC® Method, and Redcord suspension therapy, to improve movement and help patients achieve their goals.
In her free time, Michelza enjoys sewing, exploring new coffee shops, and gardening.
