Helping Student Athletes Recover Faster, Move Better, and Perform at Their Best
Young athletes face increasing physical demands as practices intensify, competition levels rise, and bodies continue to grow and develop.
At Body-N-Balance, our Physical Therapists work with student athletes to treat sports injuries, improve movement mechanics, and build the strength and stability needed to perform at a higher level.
Each session is one-on-one for a full hour with a licensed physical therapist, allowing us to provide focused care tailored to your athlete’s sport, training schedule, and performance goals.
Our therapists have experience working with athletes at many levels, from elementary school, middle school, and high school competitors to collegiate and professional athletes, giving families confidence that their athlete is receiving expert-level care.
How Physical Therapy Can Help Student Athletes
Youth sports injuries often develop from repetitive training, rapid growth, muscle imbalances, or movement patterns that place excessive stress on joints and soft tissue.
Physical Therapy helps identify these issues early, supports safe recovery, and improves performance.
At Body-N-Balance, our therapists take a whole-body approach to evaluating how athletes move. Instead of focusing only on the area of pain, we assess strength, mobility, alignment, and neuromuscular control to determine what may be contributing to the injury.
Treatment programs may include:
Movement and biomechanical analysis
Sport-specific strength and stability training
Core control and balance training
Mobility and flexibility work
Neuromuscular and reaction training
Return-to-play progression after injury
Injury prevention strategies for competitive athletes
Our goal is not just to help athletes recover, but to help them move more efficiently, reduce injury risk, and perform at their best throughout their season.
Parents appreciate that our therapists also provide education and guidance on training load, recovery, and safe progression back to sports.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should my athlete see a physical therapist?
If your child is experiencing pain during or after sports, recurring injuries, or difficulty returning to play, Physical Therapy can help identify the underlying cause and guide recovery.
It can also benefit athletes who want to improve strength, movement efficiency, and injury prevention as training intensity increases.
Do we need a referral to start physical therapy?
Georgia allows patients to begin physical therapy without a physician referral for a limited number of visits. If your athlete plans to continue care or use insurance benefits, a referral may be required.
Our team can help guide you through the process and coordinate with your athlete’s physician if needed.
Is Physical Therapy only for injured athletes?
No. Many young athletes benefit from Physical Therapy before injuries occur. Movement assessments and strength training can help identify weaknesses or imbalances that may increase injury risk during demanding seasons.
What ages do you work with?
We most commonly work with middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes, though younger athletes may benefit from physical therapy depending on their sport and injury.
How long are physical therapy sessions?
All physical therapy sessions at Body-N-Balance are private, one-on-one, and 60 minutes long with a licensed physical therapist.
This allows us to provide focused care tailored to the athlete’s injury, sport, and performance goals.
How do you determine when my athlete is ready to return to sports?
Returning to sports too quickly after an injury can increase the risk of reinjury. Our therapists guide athletes through a structured return-to-play progression that focuses on restoring strength, mobility, stability, and sport-specific movement.
Before returning to full participation, we ensure the athlete can safely perform the movements required for their sport, such as running, jumping, cutting, or rotational movements, with proper control and without pain. Our goal is to help your athlete return to competition stronger, more confident, and less likely to experience another injury.
